భారత దేశంలో ఎక్కువగా మాట్లాడే ద్రవిడ భాష. ఆంధ్రపదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర రాజ భాష. "త్రిలంగ" పదము నుంచి "తెలుగు" పదం వెలువడిందని అంటారు. తేనె వంటిది కనుక "తెనుగు" అనాలని కొందరు అంటారు.
క్రీస్తు పూర్వం 200 నాటి శిధిలాలలొ తెలుగు భాష ఉండటంబట్టి ఈ భాష ప్రాచీనత మనకి తెలుస్తుంది.
